Classification and function of calender

Different calendering effects can be obtained depending on the material of the roll surface, the rolling pressure, the temperature, the combination of different soft and hard rolls, and the way of wearing. The equipment used for calendering can be classified into ordinary calenders, friction calenders and laminated calenders.


  (1) Ordinary calender: A common calender generally consists of three rolls. The roller arrangement is formed by "soft-hard-soft" or "hard-soft-hard". This equipment is heated by steam, and the temperature of the heating roller is 80 to 110 °C.

Ordinary calender is suitable for the general calender finishing of fabrics. It is used for flat rolling of all kinds of bleaching, color and flower plain fabrics. Under the condition of increasing pressure, it can also be used as heavy-duty finishing equipment for hard pulp thin fabrics. . (2) Friction calender: Friction calendering electromechanical is composed of three rolls, generally arranged in a "hard, soft and hard" arrangement. The lower roll is made of cast iron and the middle roll is made of paper or cotton. The uppermost small roll is made of hardened iron, also known as a friction roll. There is a small wax roller on the front of the friction roller, which is freely adjustable and can be detached from contact with the friction roller. During mechanical operation, the wax roll is covered with a layer of felt and coated with some grease to lubricate the friction roller and wipe off the adhering fiber dust and accumulated starch and other contaminants. The fiber roll and the friction roll form a friction rolling point and form a hard rolling point with the cast iron roll. When calendering, the fabric passes through the hard rolling point and then passes through the friction rolling point. The linear speed of the friction roller is greater than the speed of the fabric passing through the nip, so that the surface of the fabric is rubbed to obtain a buffing effect. At the same time, due to the rolling and friction, the yarn is flattened, the interlaced hole pressure is not reduced, and the surface of the fabric is smooth, resulting in a strong luster.

 During processing, according to the processing requirements of the fabric, the friction rate can be adjusted through the transmission device (ie, the linear velocity ratio of the upper and lower rollers) in the range of 30% to 300%, and the specific level is 30%, 50%, 75%. , 100%, 150%, 200%, 300%, of which more common is 50% to 75%. The friction roller temperature is 100 to 120 ° C, and the fabric moisture content is 10% to 15%.

The friction calender is suitable for calendering of twill lining cloth, medium yarn jersey and tracing cloth. The finished fabric surface has a strong aurora and is very bright, such as a layer of wax.


 (3) Universal calender: A calender of more than five rolls is called a universal calender. Because the arrangement of the rollers is different, the use of electricity is different, and the effect of finishing is different, mainly in the following cases:


    1 If the soft one hard rolls are alternately arranged, they are used for one side calendering of the fabric.


    2 If two of the middle sections are arranged adjacent to the soft rolls, they are used for double-sided calendering.


    3 If only the following three rolls are used, they can be used as a friction calender.


    4 If laminated with a set of 6 to 10 sets of guide rolls, it is used for laminated calendering.


    The so-called laminated calendering is to calender the fabric laminate through the same rolling point, and the lamination can be up to 6 layers. The feature of laminated calendering is that the creping effect between the fabrics is used to create a corrugation effect on the fabric surface, in addition to softening the fabric, the fabric has a soft hand and a clear appearance. natural.


    When the fabric laminate is calendered, it is first wound around the roller of the calender, and then passed through the guide roller, and then repeatedly wound around the calender rolls, so that it is repeatedly wound 5 to 6 times, and the number of layers is more. The softer the texture of the finished fabric. The cloth wearing method is shown in Figure 9-12. This type of method is mainly used for the finishing of poplin and white fabrics.
